WHY NOT HOLD MALAYSIAN UNITY GATHERING THEN! Mega Malay unity meet open to non-Malays too - organiser

Non-Malays will be welcomed at the upcoming Malay Unity Assembly this Saturday as the event is to celebrate Malay culture and not aimed at creating political or racial discord, organisers said today.
"If there are non-Malays who want to come also we won't stop them, because if they come with good intentions to be friends with this Malay Movement, they are also welcomed," said Datuk Dr Hasan Mad, the secretary-general of the Malay Consultative Council (MPM).
"We are not an activity that is racist and having racial elements, we want to rally the Malays so that we become united, blessed and respected," Hasan explained.
He said the gathering on February 28 at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil is to promote unity, adding that there were too many politics-based gatherings of late.
"The only assembly that we have now is the Umno assembly, that is politics, but we don't have any non-political assembly," he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamid Zahid Hamidi are also expected to attend the assembly, which is expected to draw at least 20,000 people.
The other organising groups besides MPM are Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), Federal Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju) and controversial national civic bureau, the Biro Tatanegara (BTN).
The programme includes instilling "maqasid shariah" or the objectives of Islamic law, and also listening to "mandates" to Malay leaders by the national leadership.
According to a press release on the event, a similar assembly was held 69 years ago on March 2, 1946, to rally Malays together to form Umno. – TMI

    Another on of those "Wannabes"...?

Let us get to the "root of the mess" we are in today...

"...After the era of British colonialism, there was a need to revamp the colonial education system; hence, a new educational policy was set up after a special committee led by Tun Abdul Razak (first Minister of Education and the second Prime Minister of Malaysia) made a recommendation.

This comprehensive recommendation was known as Razak’s Report 1956.

The objective of this committee was to establish a national education system that would promote the cultural, social, economic and political development accepted by the nation as a whole, having regard that the Malay language would be the national language.

Hence, it should be the main medium of instruction in the education system.

The content of the Razak’s Report became the basis of the education system as enshrined in the Education Ordinance 1957.

Furthermore, the Malaysian Government at that time started to make several evolutionary changes especially upon educational curriculum to suit the aspiration of the Malaysian outlook.

To speed up the process of national integration and unity, the Rahman Talib’s Report was made to review the education policy in 1960 and became a basis to establish the Education Act 1961.

The act provides the legal basis for enabling national language to be a compulsory subject in primary and secondary school and in all training institutions.

In addition, it is a requirement to have a satisfied grade to be awarded a certificate for public education examination especially at the end and upper secondary levels.

All School using English as the medium of instruction were gradually adopting National language..."
