CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Najib dances ala Elvis at daughter's wedding while Dr M, Malaysia 'BURNS'

CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Najib dances ala Elvis at daughter's wedding while Dr M, M'sia 'BURNS'
A video clip showing Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak swaying and twisting his hips ala Elvis Presley has gone viral.
Najib, 61, was on stage with his wife Rosmah Mansor at the grand wedding reception of their daughter in Kazakhstan. They were dancing to the 60's tune of Pretty Woman played by an unidentified live band.
The recording lasting 1:17 minutes has made the rounds, stirring up giggles in some quarters at the shenanigans of the Malaysian first couple, known for their love of the ostentatious jet-setting lifestyle.
But mostly, the reaction was outrage that Najib could be frittering away his time, while snubbing calls from many quarters - especially from former premier Mahathir Mohamad - to come clean on a barrage of disturbing issues.
Most urgent among these are the RM42 billion 1MDB financial scandal, with the 90-year-old Mahathir himself leading the charge to demand to know the 'whereabouts of some missing RM27 billion'.
So much money in such a short time - what will Dr M say

Indeed all eyes are on Mahathir to prod some accountability from his former protege over the 1MDB string of financial scandals and the Altantuya murder controversy.
There is also concern over where and how Najib, who draws a modest salary as PM, has been able to accumulate so much wealth during his tenure which began only in 2009, when he was anointed by Mahathir to take over from previous prime minister Abdullah Badawi or Pak Lah.
"It doesn't bode well for Najib to be caught red-handed playing silly when the whole country was in uproar and worried about economic crisis due to mismanagement at 1MDB. I think around that time, the people in Taman Medan were also having a mini crisis with Muslims fighting the Christians over a church crucifix. Where is the leadership - has Najib become carried away by his affluent lifestyle and forgotten he is the PM of a troubled country?" a member of the political Opposition told Malaysia Chronicle.
"We are also told by the police they foiled an attack by 12 local ISIS militants to bomb Putrajaya over the weekend - again, where was Najib? And what has Mahathir to say - he is the one who anointed Najib to take over from Pak Lah, now Najib is underperforming so badly, Mahathir must bear responsibility too."
Najib and Rosmah had thrown 5 grand wedding receptions for their only daughter, Nooryana, who married Daniyar Nazarbayev from Kazakhstan. Their extravagance, coming at a time when the Malaysian public are upset over sky-prices of essentials and the introduction of the new Goods & Services Tax, had prompted Mahathir to criticize the celebration as the 'wedding of the century'.
In Kazakhstan, Nooryana and Daniyar's reception was held at Almaty's poshest and went on for two days, from 17 April to 19 April.
Two days of partying
Some 300 guests were specially ferried from Malaysia to join in the celebrations. Among these invited guests were Sabah Speaker's wife Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni; National Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Abu Zahar Bet and his wife; Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamad and his wife; Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and wife; and the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Hassan Malek and his wife.
"We also want to know if these guests from Malaysia went to Kazakhstan at their own expense or did Najib use the government jet and to send them and his own family over there," said the critic.
"This is not the first time Najib and Rosmah have been caught doing this and he as PM, should know that he must separate his personal money from public funds. The Malaysian people are not his piggy bank. We are not here to suffer, stinge and scrimp while he parties and dances like Elvis Presley to entertain his so-called 'high-class' pals." Malaysia Chronicle
