Najib, Rosmah must explain source of wealth

YOURSAY ‘The math just does not add up and numbers do not lie.’

Unethical to quiz Najib's lifestyle, say ex-BN reps

Vijay47: It is fully understandable that groups like Mubarak (Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives) excel in bending low like MP P Kamalanathan in their fervour to honour, defend and praise PM Najib Razak.

But this is hardly driven by mere sycophancy, the real objective is rather more down to earth - the countless government contracts and other blessings that Umno showers on the faithful.

They demand that the PM's personal lifestyle be not questioned. If not the PM's, whose? Daim Zainuddin's, S Samy Vellu's or Ling Leong Sik's? Which may not be a bad idea, though.

Mubarak president Abdul Aziz Rahman adds that Najib comes from a wealthy dynasty, hence justifying his opulent, rich and famous ways. This salient fact must have somehow slipped the PM's brothers' minds.

And for entertainment value, Abdul Aziz seeks our patience regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) as it is under audit. We are still laughing.

Then we have the inevitable "leakages occurred under Mahathir", thus it's "I'm alright, Jack" for Najib's term to follow suit.

Strangely, Mubarak had no comment regarding the Altantuya Shaariibuu allegations.

CQ Muar: Frankly, we don't give a hoot about Najib’s personal life, but we are sick to the core that he is making the nation suffer with his excessive lifestyle at the expense of taxpayers.

His personal wealth is not our concern, but how he achieved his wealth is certainly a matter of great concern to us.

The national debt amounted close to RM600 billion and the national coffer is near rock bottom. With the government resorting to measures like Goods and Services Tax (GST), cuts in subsidies and others, this will impact greatly on the unfortunate rakyat.

That, precisely is why we feel cheated and ripped off. With the billions amassed from such impositions, this will enable them to siphon further and live luxuriously. The rakyat is short-changed and being robbed by the present regime.

Hearty Malaysian: Najib is no 1 public servant in Malaysia and adopting a very lavish lifestyle far beyond his official income raises serious questions.

What is so unethical to challenge that, apple-polishers? King Louis of France had similar lavish lifestyle while the French people suffered. He was eventually kicked out and severely punished.

Vking: What the Mubarak spokesperson said is right - no one in BN should question Najib's and his family’s lifestyle.

This kind of attack is employed by the Pakatan Rakyat which is crazy for power. If this is done by Mahathir, it is very wrong.

Kawak: This "naive" Mubarak is just there to protect PM Najib. Only the investigation arm of Inland Revenue Board has the expertise to assess one’s wealth using a financial tool called  "net worth method" to determine whether an individual and his wife have spent beyond their means over a specific period years.

Until and unless this is done, nobody can say whether PM has or has not spent beyond his means.

Odin: First point. Najib is indeed wealthy; otherwise, how could he and his wife afford to spend millions on jewellery, super-expensive handbags, and so on?

The question is, how has he amassed his wealth?

Second point. Was the Noah Foundation established to finance a lavish lifestyle for Mohammad Noah's progeny or for their education? If my memory serves me right, the latter seems the case.

Lim Chong Leong: Mubarak president Abdul Aziz is another idiot mouthpiece of the tyrant. Is this all he can offer?

That Noah foundation can allow him such a lavish lifestyle for him and his flamboyant wife? What do the brothers have to say?

Anonymous_1419577444: So, how did Najib's grandfather amass such wealth that Najib can flaunt it like there is no tomorrow?

Malaysia (or Malaya) in those days were not that wealthy in his grandfather's days.

Jaycee: So it is ethical to fabricate lies and throw a majority and opposition leader in jail.

And it is ethical to keep silent on the ‘missing’ 1MDB money that belongs to the taxpayers. The math just does not add up and numbers do not lie; we want to know how the PM and his wife get their wealth.

PputehP: As long as he is the PM of the country and duly elected, we have all the right to enquire his lifestyle and how he lives. If he is not happy then resign and quit the post.

Clearwater: If you don't want people to talk about your lavish lifestyle, don't flaunt it in their faces. Especially after Najib’s sanctimonious comments on kangkung and RM1 chicken.

Incidentally, were both kangkung and RM1 chicken served at any of the dinner receptions for a certain ostentatious wedding held recently? -Mkini
