Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab set the date in chambers, in the presence of lawyer Shahid Adli Kamarudin, representing Anwar, and another lawyer, Sarah Abishegam, representing Nallakaruppan.
Shahid Adli later told reporters that they had filed an appeal on June 10 at the Court of Appeal over Mohd Zaki's decision to allow Nallakarupan's application to cross-examine Anwar on his previous conviction.
Also objected to were questions posed on Anwar's conviction in the sodomy II case for sodomising his personal aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 27, in 2008, for which he was sentenced to five years' prison on February 10, this year.
Anwar, 68, filed the suit on August 25, 2008, over alleged defamatory remarks made by Nallakaruppan in an article titled, "Anwar terima RM60 juta" (Anwar receives RM60 million) which was published in the Mingguan Malaysia and Sinar Harian newspapers in August, 2008. – Bernama
