Muslims who pray five times a day are still not guaranteed a place in heaven if they slander others, create conflict, and destroy unity, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.
The prime minister cited a hadith, or prophetic tradition, on the Prophet Muhammad's companion asking about the practices that bring Muslims closer to heaven: observing one's faith, prayers, zakat or alms-giving and maintaining good ties between fellow Muslims.
"If you observe all your prayers but instigate people ('batu api'), slander others, create conflict, destroy unity, you are not guaranteed heaven.
"Even if you wear huge symbols, that does not guarantee that you enter heaven. This is a reminder for everyone," Najib said in his speech in Serdang today.
He said this during a ceremony to hand over Aidilfitri contributions to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council's (MAIWP)  Asnaf Baitulmal.
