BOMB EXPLOSION AT USJ11 HOUSE, DEBT COLLECTOR SUSPECTED
SUBANG JAYA - A 74-year-old man escaped injuries after a bomb exploded in front of his double-storey house at Jalan USJ11/3D here today.
In the 12.15pm incident, the victim was reading newspaper in his house when he suddenly heard a loud explosion sound.
He went out and to check where the explosion sound came from and it was from his car porch.
The explosion had damaged his rear car bumper and the rear part was burnt.
His house ceiling was also damaged but he was unsure what was the object.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said the victim, was staying at the house alone while his three children were not staying with him any more.
Yahaya added that the victim has been renting other two rooms in his house for RM400 to two tenants who were also not in the house during the incident.
Yahaya said initial interrogations with the tenants revealed that the owner had debt with someone.
"The owner (victim) had also admitted that he had owed some amount of money to a debt collector and the incident might be caused by them," said Yahaya adding that the victim had staying there for about 20 years.
He also said that so far, the victim did not suspect anyone and he admitted that he did not have any enemies with anyone before.
Police did not rule out any treason element in the incident.
"No injuries or casualties reported from the incident," said Yahaya.
Yahaya added that Bukit Aman forensics team had conducted investigations at the location and had handed over 15 swabs of explosives for chemical test.
"So far, we did not have any suspects yet as the investigations are still underway," said Yahaya adding that the case is being investigated under Section 5 of the Explosives Act. - Sundaily
