SEREMBAN: MCA Youth chief Senator Chong Sin Woon denied that he had issued a statement calling on MCA members to join the illegal Bersih 4 rally in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
“As far as I can remember, when asked by a reporter about Bersih 4 in Kuala Lumpur this morning, I said that, as stated in the Federal Constitution, we respect the right of each individual to hold an assembly and those who attend the assembly are doing so in their personal capacity.
“Nothing in my statement says that I am encouraging and calling on our (MCA) members to join the Bersih 4 rally.
“So, I would like to ask Malaysiakini, in particular, not to twist my statement and giving it a provocative headline like ‘MCA Youth OK for the members to join Bersih’. That is not true,” he told reporters after chairing the 9th MCA Youth Central Committee meeting here.
He said he was deluged with various criticisms after the portal published the news.
“I would like to stress again that I have never issued a statement encouraging MCA members to join the Bersih 4 rally in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow,” he said.
