PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has criticised the actions of those who participated in the red-shirt rally, which was marred by racial slurs.
In a statement, he said this is the work of Umno, as it is not something that Malays would do.
"They resemble the actions of Umno, who we are trying to defeat in the 14th general election, to stop the further destruction of our national unity and for the future of Malaysia," he added.
Tuan Ibrahim also advised all quarters not to allow the rally to distract them from more serious issues such as 1MDB, the RM2.6 billion political donation and the weakening of the Ringgit.
He said people should not share photos of placards and banners with racist messages on social media.
"That is what they want - Malaysians to get caught up in racial issues. Do not let them trick you into getting distracted," he added.
The red shirt rally called 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' was held in response to Bersih 4 and to uphold Malay pride.
The police estimated about 50,000 people attended the rally in downtown Kuala Lumpur. - Mkini
