Schools reopen tomorrow as air quality improves

Schools in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and several areas in Sarawak have been ordered to reopen tomorrow after the smoke levels reduced throughout the country today.
Yesterday, the Education Ministry ordered schools in these areas to close today due to the worsening smoke condition.
The ministry in its circular today, however, advised state and district education departments to continue to monitor the air pollutant index readings (API).
In Malacca, Bandaraya Melaka and Bukit Rambai recorded API of 138 and 125.
In Negri Sembilan, the smoke was still evident in Port Dickson (112) and Seremban (107).
In Sarawak, Samarahan and Kuching recorded 118 and 116 respectively.
Meanwhile, Bernama reports that airports around the country are back in operation.
The report stated that the Kuching International Airport reopened at 9.10am today, after having been closed since 7am today by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and airport authorities due to the thick smoke, the airport's senior manager Mohd Nadzim Hashim said.
"As of 11am today, three flights have departed from the airport as visibility had improved to 2,000 metres, compared with 300 metres at 7am today," Nadzim was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Still, Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) tweeted a message asking passengers travelling from Kuching to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information.
Over in Ipoh, the Sultan Azlah Shah Airport also resumed full operations, with no delay reported so far today.
