PUTRAJAYA: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has urged outsiders not to interfere in the internal affairs of Malaysia.
Commenting on China’s ambassador to Malaysia, Huang Huikang’s visit to Petaling Street last Friday, he said the statement made by the ambassador could be interpreted as interfering in the affairs of the country.
He said the statement was confirmed by the Chinese Embassy and the media had not misquoted him.
“Whatever happens in Malaysia, we will resolve the matter internally. He has no right to take action and issue statements which can appear as interference into our affairs,” he said.
Khairy, who is also youth and sports minister, was speaking after presenting the Jalur Gemilang to Naim Mohamad, head of the Malaysian contingent to the 8th Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Taoyuan, Taiwan here today.
Clearly disappointed with Huang’s statement, Khairy said it was up to Wisma Putra to take action.
“We need to trust the foreign ministry in making the decision as they are in charge of diplomatic issues.
“But we need to send a signal to other countries that whatever happens in Malaysia, is our business.
“We need not be afraid to express our feelings for fear of jeopardising economic relations and other interests that we cannot reprimand them when they go against the norms of diplomacy,” he added.
