Jet-setting couple could have saved MAS…

YOURSAY | ‘I wonder how much it would have cost if they used commercial airlines.’
CQ Muar: Everybody, including those pending investigations and prosecutions, seemed to be offenders of the country's constitutions and laws except Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
This is despite his many nefarious allegations of murder (Altantuya Shaariibuu), illegitimate commissions arising from Scorpene submarine deals, liberal jet-setting expenses, etc, and the never-ending 1MDB and RM2.6 billion debacles as well as unsettled US$11 billion debt.
This brings the question – is Najib being absolved by virtue of being the PM or is he immune from questioning, interrogation, investigation, let alone arrest?
Are our enforcers of the law being partial or merely incompetent, or even incapable owing to his invincibility? How do we account and where do we stand in the eyes of the international community, one wonders?
When will those Umno leaders in the government, ministers and cohorts make a bold stand against such a dictator, and in the process, free this country from disaster?
Ipohcrite: No wonder Najib cited the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the saviour of Malaysia's economy.
With this sort of profligate lifestyle and spending by him and his wife, the GST is the plug desperately needed to prevent the listing economy from sinking into the deep waters of bankruptcy.
Vijay47: I have consulted various experts in the aviation industry and they all agree that the high cost of flying would be due to fuel prices.
They also agree that to chalk up an average of RM1 million per flight, Najib and Rosmah Mansor must have been using champagne to fuel their plane.
And none of that cheap-skate vintage, please. Only Krug Brut will do for Milady.
Out of Time: I wonder how much it would have cost if they used commercial airlines. Maybe this might even have saved MAS.
Haveagreatday: Good job, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli. Even if the Umnoputras try to close the lid, you must pry it wide open so that the rakyat can see how our hard-earned money is squandered by these so-called leaders.
Nil: I would not judge them, as long as they earned their keep honestly and transparently.
Doc: And that RM40 million does not include the cost to maintain Najib and the alleged first lady of Malaysia (FLOM) when the national jet's wheels were on the ground on foreign soil.
NNFC: I think the government should be transparent and declare how many times the jet was used for official business and what was achieved from the ‘so-called’ business.
Also, the ministry must also declare how it can ensure that there is no abuse on its use. For instance, has the jet been used for shopping?
Franco: So if it's government property, it is okay to spend as they wish? The PM and ministers are government servants. They are there to ensure the people's interest are taken care of, not that of their own.
The government must ensure that the country is governed well and that it continues to prosper, not burden its rakyat until there is a breakdown in the social order. Which is where Malaysia is heading, too.
Leongan: You follow what I tell you to do, don't do what I do.
Karma: No abuse of power? This is not only abuse of power but also abuse of court process. When they muck around with 1MDB, it is called 'sabotage' to parliamentary democracy.
For example, The Edge. When asked what was wrong with the publication, the home minister said something about eating chili. He then went on to suspend the publication, causing great loss of income. If this is not called abuse of power, what is it?
Another case - DAP MP Tony Pua's right to travel overseas. What has he done wrong? Why was he deported from Sarawak? Till now, there is no answer.
Slumdog: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s guarantee that there will not be abuse of power is like the devil guaranteeing that he will not add fuel to the fire when one arrives in hell.
Nobody can believe a word this man says.
Doseh: Believing his pledge is tantamount to believing a kleptomaniac's promise not to steal, or a sex addict's vow to celibacy, or a compulsive gambler's pledge never ever to gamble again. To overcome it, people with such disorders need rehabilitation.
So it is for Malaysians to believe our BN government again, the BN politicians need to be rehabilitated. The best form of rehabilitation is to sit in the opposition bench in Parliament.
Sabahan: The act of charging people with actions detrimental to parliamentary democracy is itself an abuse of power. This is amply demonstrated when Interpol rejected the red notice on Sarawak Report founder Clare Rewcastle-Brown.
That silly action made the Malaysian police a laughing stock all over the world and confirmed abuse of power.
Kawak: Zahid, a pledge or even 1,000 pledges from you is of no value. Go ask yourself why. -Mkini
