Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah will be charged under the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) for organising the Bersih 4 rally.
Bersih 2.0 secretariat Mandeep Singh said Maria would be charged under Section 9(5) for failing to submit a 10-day advance notice for the 34-hour rally.
She will be charged at the Duta Sessions Court next Tuesday, November 3.
The Bersih 4 rally, organised by the electoral reform group on August 29 and 30, brought tens of thousands onto the streets of capital city Kuala Lumpur calling for institutional reforms and the resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The following month, a coalition of Malay non-governmental organisations mobilised the "red shirt" rally, also called "Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu", to counter Bersih 4 which they said had insulted the integrity of the Malays.
Filled with incendiary remarks and racially charged banners and placards, the rally saw some tense moments when participants were upset over questions posed by journalists, and riot police sprayed chemical-laced water on a group of rowdy rally goers who attempted to breach police barricades to gain access to Petaling Street.
