Strange things are happening in Umno, says Muhyiddin

Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin today said strange things have been happening in Umno lately.
He said this in a statement responding to the sacking of Gopeng Umno division chief Hamidah Osman by the party supreme council on Tuesday.
"I am worried about a few strange things happening in Umno lately, which show the sense of responsibility, justice, and trust among certain leaders to be eroding," he said in a statement tonight.
Muhyiddin did not name names when he referred to "certain leaders" in the party, but said he had a message for them.
"To these people, I would like to remind them, remember, Umno is not a party belonging to any individual.
"It is a party for all Malays. Do not hurt the Malays with your actions that are untrustworthy and irresponsible," he said.
Muhyiddin said he regretted and was saddened by the decision to sack Hamidah, purportedly for merely attending a function to welcome former Umno president Dr Mahathir Mohamad's return from overseas.
Mahathir is a staunch critic of Najib and has vowed to unseat him as prime minister.
"I am aware that as an Umno supreme council member, I am bound by the decisions made by the supreme council.
"But it is my duty to state my views about something when it is seen to be against the objectives of the party constitution," he said.
Muhyiddin was referring to Hamidah's sacking, which did not go through the Umno disciplinary board. -Mkini
