KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General will raise an objection before the judicial review hearing filed by Perak prince Raja Izuddin Iskandar Shah Sultan Idris Shah against him (AG) refusing to grant him consent to set up a Special Court.
Senior federal counsel Shamsul Bolhassan said that he will be raising a preliminary objection at the next hearing on February 18 for leave before Justice Asmabi Mohamed.
“We will be raising the point that the application is vexatious. The courts have no power to decide on the Sultan’s prerogative.”
Raja Izuddin filed a judicial review on October 9 against the Attorney-General.
He is seeking a court order to quash the Attorney-General’s order to reject his application to start an action in the Special Court on the Seniority Rights’ of Perak State Royals as well as an order to start a claim against the current Perak ruler.
Raja Izuddin claims that he’s the rightful successor to the throne.
