Muhyiddin to join protest to back 'heroes' who wanted Najib out

Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to join the supporters of nine branch leaders who fill face the disciplinary tribunal this afternoon.
Axed Gopeng Umno leader Hamidah Osman has been rallying members to gather at the party headquarters in PWTC to express their dissatisfaction towards the president Najib Abdul Razak.
"Let's gather today at 12.30pm to defend the plight of the nine branch leaders who will face the disciplinary tribunal.
"Don't just comment on WhatsApp and Facebook. Let's be together with these heroes who were willing to sacrifice their posts and (party) memberships in order for others to come bravely forward," read her Whatsapp message, which is being circulated.
Another Whatsapp message making the rounds stated that Muhyiddin would also attend the gathering.
The nine were among 13 Telok Kemang Umno branch leaders who called for Najib's resignation in October.
Taman TKK branch chief Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, who heads the group, had said the grassroots urged Najib to resign to save Umno from disaster in the next general election.
Last week, nine of them received letters instructing them to attend the disciplinary tribunal.
Apart from Teluk Kemang Umno, 34 branches from Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Johor, Perak and Sabah have also piled pressure on the president to resign.
Hamidah, on the other hand, believes she was made a sacrificial lamb. Her sacking was announced after the Umno supreme council meeting last week.
She has been critical of Najib, including calling for his resignation over scandals such as his handling of 1MDB and the discovery of RM2.6 billion and RM42 million in his personal bank accounts.
Najib has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. -Mkini
