Papagomo ordered to pay Anwar RM800,000

Blogger Papagomo or Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris has been ordered by the Court of Appeal to pay damages of RM800,000 to Anwar Ibrahim.
The appellate court today dismissed his appeal against the quantum and decision by the Kuala Lumpur High Court which found him to have committed libel.
Justice Rohana Yusof, who led the three member bench, said the High Court had made a finding of fact that Papagomo and Wan Muhammad Azri is the same person through the evidence of a fellow blogger.
"Hence, the court found there is no error in facts with her decision. With this, the bench also noticed that the memorandum of appeal of Wan Muhammad Azri did not state he is appealing on the quantum.
"Hence, we find there is no reasonable grounds to disturb the High Court's judge on the quantum. With this, the court dismisses both appeals (on the decision and quantum)," she said.

Sitting with Justice Rohana are Court of Appeal judges Hamid Sultan Abu Backer and Justice Varghese George Varghese.
In addition, Wan Muhammad Azri, who appeared on his own without a lawyer, had been ordered by the court to pay RM10,000 costs to Anwar.
It was previously reported two years ago that the HIgh Court found Papagomo had maliciously defamed Anwar.
