Ministry will ensure traders do not take advantage of consumers via 'Ops Catut Back to School' which will continue until commencement of the new school term.
BANGI: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) today began its ‘Ops Catut Back to School’ to check on the prices of school items throughout the country.
Director of KPDNKK’s Enforcement Division, Mohd Roslan Mahayuddin said the operations were aimed at ensuring traders did not take advantage of the current economic situation by increasing the prices of school items.
“The operations are conducted simultaneously throughout the country and will continue until the first day of school next year,” he told Bernama today.
He said checks conducted on the first day found several traders suspected of increasing the prices of school uniforms and other items in several states.
“They have been issued notices and have to report to the KPDNKK office before January 1 to give a reason for increasing the prices of their goods,” he said.
