KUALA LUMPUR: PKR secretary – general Rafizi Ramli said the Prime Minister’s absence in Parliament was “not surprising”, while the nation’s number 2 failed to address questions surrounding the RM2.6 billion donation.
Rafizi, who is also the MP for Pandan stated that the only thing that was surprising was who Najib’s advisor was, as the latter’s absence in Parliament today would only fuel the fire.
“To me, if he didn’t want to answer, he should not have given people hope that he would. Not only that, he didn’t live up to it, he wasn’t even brave enough to show up at the Dewan.
“This will only strengthen the perception that there is something not right. Politically, the PM lost big time,” he told reporters outside parliament.
He added that he would suggest for Najib to not speak of anything on the RM2.6 billion donation and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) unless he truly wanted to come forward.
Earlier, today Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told the august house, on Najib’s behalf, that there were no legal provisions that made it compulsory for a political party to declare any political donation they received.
“The three minutes that he (Zahid) spoke was a waste of the Dewan and the rakyat’s time. I’m not surprised that he did not actually answer any questions.
