Come clean on ‘mounting billions’, Tony Pua urges Najib

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua has urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to come clean on how much exactly went into his personal bank accounts.
This was after Sarawak Report claimed of other deposits apart from the US$681 million (RM2.6 billion; US$1 = RM3.8 in 2015) which Najib claimed was a “donation” from the Middle East.
Pua noted that Sarawak Report in its latest article claimed Najib received a further US$170 million from a British Virgin Island company named Blackstone Asia Real Estate Partners Limited, allegedly links to billionaire Jho Low.
“Najib must now come clean on exactly how much unaccounted foreign deposits have been made into his Ambank account(s).
“The earlier exposed US$681 million has been ‘explained’ as a ‘donation’ from an uber-generous Middle East donor.
“Is the US$170 million another generous donation, this time from global philanthropist, Jho Low?” said Pua in a statement today.
Pua added that the latest deposit, coupled with the current exchange rate of RM4 to one US$1, it has come to an “unbelievable” RM3.4 billion in ‘donations’.
“Najib Abdul Razak might as well come clean himself instead of waiting for foreign whistle-blowers and international financial journals to expose more spellbinding details,” he said.
Sarawak Report had also claimed that the same Blackstone account also deposited US$472.25 million into former Abu Dhabi’s Aabar Investment PJS chairperson Khadem Al-Qubaisi who was involved in deals with 1MDB.
Pua noted that the whistleblower portal had also claimed that Najib had charged RM3.3 million to credit cards belonging to state-owned SRC International which the prime minister has yet to respond.
“The incredible sums of money deposited in your personal bank account from unaccounted sources is everything to do with every Malaysian in this country.
“As the number one public official in the country, you are accountable to every single Malaysian and you certainly owe the country a thorough explanation on the source and origins of these mysterious funds,” he said. -Mkini
