DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has promised that if Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya, the rakyat will continue to receive handouts while enjoying a lower cost of living thanks to good governance.
"Under Harapan, Malaysians do not need to hold at least two jobs to survive.
"Harapan will lighten the burden of 30 million Malaysians by abolishing the goods and services tax.
"Malaysians can still afford to receive 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) payouts without the GST by running a clean government and conducting open competitive tenders," Lim said in his new year's address today.
In the message posted on his official Facebook page, Lim said that BN has only made the economic situation worse through its "failed economic management."
He then took aim at Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ahmad Maslan’s remarks that Malaysians need two jobs to sustain themselves.
BN must be replaced
He said this showed how disconnected Ahmad was from the rest of Malaysians.
Lim also slammed Ahmad for dragging his name into the two jobs fiasco.
"Even though I wear many hats in my various responsibilities in the government and to my political party, I have only one job – that is to serve the people," he said.
Lim was responding to Ahmad saying that the former held three jobs as MP, assemblyperson, and chief minister.
"The time has come for Malaysians to put BN leaders like Ahmad out of their jobs, so we can live with economic dignity with one job and choose with our own free will or volition if we wish to work two jobs.
"Malaysians do not deserve such economic servitude from BN.
"BN must be replaced in the next general election so that we do not become economic refugees or economic slaves in our own country," he stressed.-Mkini
