Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir was not invited to the Umno Supreme Council meeting today, so there was no issue of him being asked to leave, said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.
"There was no issue of him being booted. He is a member but he was instructed not to attend.  If the Supreme Council decided that one does not have to attend, don't come," he told reporters after the  meeting at the Umno headquarters in the capital today.
He added that Mukhriz was told that he did not need to attend this morning.
Mukhriz said Tengku Adnan told council members that those who were not invited to this afternoon's meeting should leave.
“That instruction was aimed at me,” Mukhriz said before leaving the Datuk Onn Tower at the Putra World Trade Centre at 4pm today.
