Najib, who is also the prime minister, arrived at the Umno headquarters at 4.30pm. He was spotted being accompanied by Kedah Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, Baling MP Datuk Seri Azeez Rahim and others into the hall.
The closed-door meeting will discuss their loss of confidence in Mukhriz.
The meeting lasted about 40 minutes, after which Najib was seen leaving PWTC at around 5.20pm.
The Kedah Umno leaders and wing leaders then continued their meeting after the party president left.
Ahmad Bashah at a press conference in Kedah on Wednesday said the leaders had lost confidence in Mukhriz's leadership, citing his failure to unite the party and machinery and provide strategies to face the next general election.
They have appealed to Najib to intervene in the situation.
Media personnel are currently waiting for reactions or statements from those in the meeting.
