Khairuddin to lodge MACC report against AG

Former Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan will lodge another report against attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali tomorrow, this time with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Khairuddin said this in regard to Apandi's decision to clear Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of any criminal offence in the RM2.6 billion donation and SRC International cases.
"This is to initiate investigations against Apandi on whether there was any abuse of power, manipulation or distortion of facts, or criminal negligence in handling the cases," he told Malaysiakini.
He hoped MACC would investigate Apandi thoroughly and transparently, without bias.
"Malaysians are hoping for justice, and place very high hope on the MACC to carry out their duties responsibly," Khairuddin said.
He also reminded the authorities that the people are not fools, and there should be no attempts to hoodwink them.
The former Batu Kawan Umno vice-chief lodged a similar report against Apandi with the police last week.
Khairuddin had previously been detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) for lodging reports against 1MDB abroad
One of the countries he lodged a report in was Switzerland, which is now requesting Malaysia's assistance in its own probe on 1MDB.
The Swiss AG's office announced last Friday that its investigations found "serious indications" that US$4 billion in funds have been misappropriated from Malaysian state firms and 1MDB.
Apandi has said he would facilitate the Swiss AG's request.
Najib has denied abusing public funds for personal gain, and blamed such allegations against him on those plotting his downfall. -Mkini
