Selangor government mouthpiece Selangorkini is now under police investigation following its report entitled ‘Lebih 3,000 gegar Himpunan 365 bebas Anwar’ (More than 3,000 attend Himpunan 365 to free Anwar).
The organ's representatives said this was because the report in question was allegedly political in nature and Selangorkini had also published a picture of former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the article.
Manager of the printing factory which prints the newspaper said that two plainclothes police officers from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters had questioned him this morning at the Angkatan Edaran Ent Sdn Bhd office over the matter.
“According to the officers, Selangorkini cannot publish articles that are political in nature and related to Anwar Ibrahim,” the manager who declined to be named told Malaysiakini.
He is also of the opinion that the action by police was a form of a threat against Selangorkini after news portal The Malaysian Insider (TMI) was blocked by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) yesterday.
