Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem is tight-lipped about the date for the dissolution of the state legislative assembly but hinted that that it would be made soon.
When met by reporters after meet-the-people session at the Bau Civic Centre in Bau today, he said his audience with the Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Abdul Taib Mahmud tomorrow was the usual one.
“I usually have an audience with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri before each Cabinet meeting but tomorrow will be the chance for me to ask him to dissolve the Dewan (assembly).
He was, however, quick to add: “Maybe I may ask him or I may not.”
On another note, he said the date for his meeting with two contenders to become the BN candidate for the Tasik Biru state seat, namely incumbent Peter Nansian Ngusie, who is also Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) deputy president and Harry Henry Jinep of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) will be fixed later.
Earlier, Adenan said he wanted to meet with the two potential candidates before he decides who would be chosen to be the BN candidate for the Tasik Biru seat.
The Sarawak BN chairperson denied a newspaper report that he had decided Nansian as the BN candidate for the seat and said he was also impressed with the support of Harry who received the support of all BN component parties.
He said that the upcoming state election was significant for BN and his team (Team Adenan) to win with a big majority.
With the big mandate, Adenan said he would be able to champion Sarawak’s cause, including asking for more federal funding, higher oil royalty for Sarawak and returning of the state’s devolution of powers.
