After 340km, anti-bauxite marchers reach Parliament

After 17 days on the road, 30 anti-bauxite marchers from Berserah, Pahang, reached the gates of Parliament in Kuala Lumpur today to protest against pollution in the state.
The #red2green group walked 340km to hand their memorandum, which seeks an extension of the moratorium on bauxite mining until there is a proper system to ensure zero pollution.
Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, who has been assisting the group, said the government should pay attention to the ordeal the marchers went through to protect the environment.
The memorandum was handed to chief assistant secretary of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry Mohd Nazif Jamaluddin.
Met by reporters in the Parliament lobby, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said a decision on the moratorium would be announced before April 15.
