Azizah sidesteps question of whether she’ll meet Dr M

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today refused to give a clear answer on whether she will meet with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to discuss the ousting of PM Najib Abdul Razak.
The Opposition Leader said the agenda of correcting “wrongs” in the country is more important.
“That is not the question. The question is we need to have an agenda of correcting the wrongs in this country.
“Meeting or not is irrelevant,” she told reporters after meeting a group passing through Kuala Lumpur during their walk from Kuantan to protest bauxite mining in Pahang.
She said PKR representatives including PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and vice-president Rafizi Ramli have met with Mahathir.
“Our issue is for institutional reforms and to free Anwar, not just to oust one person.
“We are ready to cooperate as long as our objectives match,” she said.
Anwar Ibrahim, PKR de facto leader and Wan Azizah’s husband, is serving a five-year jail sentence after being convicted of sodomising his former aide. This is his second sodomy conviction.
He was first convicted for sodomy in 1999, the year after he was sacked as deputy prime minister by then PM Mahathir.
Mahathir yesterday said he is willing to meet with Wan Azizah to discuss Najib’s ousting.
Wan Azizah was not among those who signed the People’s Declaration urging reforms and for Najib’s resignation.
PKR later explained that the party decided that the party president should remain “above” the movement.
The group who signed the declaration - now dubbed the Save Malaysia group - today held the People’s Congress in Shah Alam on the declaration.
Those speaking at the event include Azmin and Mahathir. -Mkini
