Dr M – from throne of power to throne of porcelain

Following his decision to quit Umno, the once invincible former prime minister has courted intense criticism from those aligned to the current administration.
In its latest salvo against the nonagenarian, a pro-Umno website employed a lavatory analogy to drive in the nail.
Describing his decision to resign as negligible, MyKMU.net remarked: “If he considers Umno to be a public toilet, which he can enter and exit at will, then we can also consider him as something which is discarded in the toilet.”
Yesterday, Mahathir announced that he is leaving Umno which he led for more than two decades in protest against the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
This is the second time the former premier quit Umno, the first following his disagreement with his successor and Najib’s predecessor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Meanwhile, MyKMU said it is a mistake to believe that Mahathir left Umno because of principles.
“Mahathir never had principles nor would he have (principles in future),” it added.
Referring to the allegations against Najib, the website noted that all the reasons the former premier provided for his decision had reached the peak in July last year.
“Why did he not quit Umno earlier?” it asked.
“It is certain these are not the reasons why he left Umno, there are other reasons.
“Only he knows what those reasons are. What is certain, however, is that principles are not one of them,” it added. -Mkini
