Asking for a bigger mandate in the upcoming state election, Sarawak chief minister Adenan Satem vowed not to take up state governorship after retiring at the end of his next five-year term.
He said he has been taking many important posts such as federal and state minister, member of parliament and currently chief minister.
"No more. The next one (in line) of course is the governor of Sarawak. But I don't want to occupy it," he told a 30,000 crowd during the grand finale of the Sejiwa Senada event in Kuching this morning.
It has been a tradition for retired chief ministers to take up the state governor post, for example Abdul Rahman Yakub and Abdul Taib Mahmud.
