After apex court's ruling, IGP to execute arrest warrant

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar will execute the arrest warrant for Mohd Ridhuan Abdullah following the Federal Court’s decision on the interfaith custody tussle.
He said prior to this, the police took the middle ground based on the conflicting orders from the civil High Court and Syariah High Court, which are of equal standing.
“However, the Federal Court is the highest court in the country’s judicial system and the police will abide by its order. We will execute the arrest warrant,” he told reporters in Kuching.

This morning, the Federal Court allowed M Indira Gandhi’s appeal to reinstate the mandamus order issued by the High Court in Ipoh compelling the police chief to execute the warrant of committal against her former husband Mohd Ridhuan, who was known as K Patmanathan prior to his conversion to Islam.
The apex court found the committal order against Ridhuan to be justified as he had failed to bring their child, Prasana Diksa, to the jurisdiction of the court.
