KUCHING: DAP had no choice but to battle its ally PKR over the Batu Kitang state seat, Abdul Aziz Isa said.
“PKR breached the agreement (on seats allocation), so we have no choice but to come and fight.”
“So now, we want the people to decide who should represent them – DAP, PKR or Barisan Nasional,” he told reporters.
Abdul Aziz, who is Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chien Jen’s special assistant, was this morning named as the candidate for Batu Kitang which will see a five-cornered fight.
He will go up against PKR’s Voon Shiak Ni, SUPP’s Lo Khere Chiang as well as independent candidates Sulaiman Kadir and Othman Bojeng.
Abdul Aziz, however, refused to comment on how this would affect the ties between the two Opposition parties, adding that this was an issue best left to the top DAP and PKR leaders.
When asked how he felt about the multi-cornered fight, Abdul Aziz – who holds a degree in political science – said it meant that democracy was thriving.
“It is normal here. We allow the public to choose. The end results are what matters.”
