Najib to unveil 2015 transformation programme achievements

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will address the nation tomorrow on Malaysia’s transformation journey and subsequently, launch the National Transformation Programme (NTP) Annual Report 2015.
The Performance Management and Delivery Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (Pemandu) in a statement tonight, said the launch of the NTP Annual Report 2015 would be broadcast live on TV1 at 8.30pm and could be watched livestream.
According to the statement, tremendous transformational momentum had been gained in some key socio-economic areas under the NTP over the last six years.
"These include strengthening the foundations for sustainable economic growth, improving public service delivery, creating a globally competitive business environment and establishing more efficient safety nets that ensure improved quality of living for Malaysians,” it said.
In 2010, Malaysia embarked on an ambitious 10-year transformation plan.
Anchored on the aspirations of the prime minister's New Economic Model, the NTP was launched to drive Malaysia towards high income status by 2020, through sustainable and inclusive measures.
Pemandu further noted that the NTP had resulted in positive outcomes for Malaysians from many factions in society.
"Opportunities for economic empowerment have been delivered, rural as well as urban infrastructure has seen vast improvement compared to five years ago and the government has reinvented itself in several areas to create ‘customer-oriented’ public service delivery,” it said.
Meanwhile, it said the prime minister’s speech would focus on progress recorded under the programme in 2015, and the last five years as a result of the NTP implementation.
The transformation programme is implemented via the National Key Results areas under the Government Transformation Programme and Economic Transformation Programme’s National Key Economic Areas and Strategic Reform Initiatives.
