PAS rep: Three choices for Terengganu Umno amid leadership crisis

The ongoing crisis plaguing the Umno leadership helming the Terengganu state government can only be solved if the party is willing to replace present Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman or refresh its mandate from the people by calling for snap polls, or getting together with PAS in a unity government.
These are the only three choices open to the party to salvage the state government, says PAS Batu Burok assemblyperson Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi.
He argued that while Umno still has a simple majority in the Terengganu state assembly with its 17 elected representatives, with the state opposition having 15 seats and the recent developments, they only have three choices to consider for their long time political survival, namely:
Appoint a new MB.

  1. Form a unity government with the opposition, namely PAS.
  2. Dissolve the state assembly to call for snap polls.
"For me, even with the majority that Umno has in the state assembly, and whatever decision by the leadership, the internal crisis must be resolved because all over the state the people are getting tired with the politicking, while the rakyat continue to be hemmed in by rising living costs and the GST which is a burden to them," said Syed Azman in a statement.
He is responding to the report that Terengganu's Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin had stripped Ahmad Razif of all state titles effective April 22. -Mkini
