PKR rep arrested for protesting telecom tower construction

PKR’s Indera Kayangan assemblyperson Chan Ming Kai was today arrested for protesting the construction of a telecommunication tower in a residential area in his constituency.
He was arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public officer from performing his duty.
His car keys were also seized by police, he said in a posting on Facebook.
The assemblyperson had sat in protest on a plastic stool under an umbrella at the proposed construction site in Taman Mutiara/Taman Jaya Diri, from 8am to 3pm yesterday.
Residents started to accompany him when they felt sorry seeing him sitting alone in the sun, Chinese daily Kwong Wah reported.
He returned today to continue the protest but was picked up by police.
