PM Najib warns of blacklisting if highway contracts sold to others

Najib Razak tells contractors of the Pan Borneo Highway that they will be blacklisted if they sell their contracts to other companies.
najb-pan-borneo-expresswayPETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Najib Razak has warned contractors hired for the Pan Borneo Highway against selling their contracts to other companies.
“Don’t sell your contracts, otherwise, we will blacklist you. The project must be completed as scheduled and within budget,” The Star Online quoted him saying when launching the Sabah stretch of the highway in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
Najib dubbed the 1,236 km project as the most “democratic and inclusive” project undertaken by the government, in that small class F contractors would be given opportunities to participate in the work. Contracts for the multi-billion ringgit project will be awarded beginning next week.
He added that locals would also be given the chance to conduct businesses at rest areas along the highway, which extends from Kudat to Tawau in the east coast and Sindumin near the Sarawak border.
Najib said the project was proof that the people could always count on the ruling coalition to ensure the nation’s progress.
