Pupil in tongue-snipping case to get counselling

The Selangor Education Department will continue to provide guidance and assistance to a Year Two pupil who snipped off the tip of his tongue on March 24.
Its director, Zainuren Mohd Noor, said the department would reprimand and counsel the boy to ensure the incident did not discourage him from continuing his studies.
"I also want to advise parents to first consult the school authorities if anything untoward happened to their children, and not to rush and make any statement," he said when contacted in Shah Alam today.
He said the department would assist the pupil to be transferred to another school if his parents so wished.
The eight-year-old boy had earlier alleged he was bullied by five older boys.
Yesterday, Selangor police chief Abdul Samah Mat (pix above) said investigations revealed the boy had injured himself during a class and not bullied into doing it.
