PM’s payment to Jakel fashion house was for charity, claims MyKMU

Kim Quek: The Wall Street Journal’s categorical allegation of PM Najib Razak splurging US$15 million on personal luxuries is directed at Najib himself, and so he must answer personally such accusation which, according to WSJ, was based on banking transaction information available to it.

Answers provided by a third party, such as website MyKMU, wouldn’t do. As prime minister of the country, Najib owes the nation his immediate answer to these serious accusations.

Remaining silence would imply admission, and both the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must move in immediately to investigate this for possible corruption.

At that period, the dollar would have been equal to ±RM3·3 on the average. US$14 million x 3.3 = RM46.2 million. Divide that by 4 and we get RM11.55 million donated per year.

Where did Najib get the money from? Has he ever donated to the poor natives in Sabah and Sarawak and victims of natural disasters in the two ‘colonies’ of Malaya? If he has, how much? And prove it, please.

Look at where all this audit trail of "donation" is getting him into; merely one 'story' to cover another.

He should have, especially as finance minister, convened a cabinet or parliamentary meeting, to state his plan of action for the less fortunate, and laid bare his funding sources, then and there.

Concern Ctzen: I think the best is show all the documentation proof publicly so the rakyat will can see for themselves. Only real facts in black and white will convince the people.

Rick Teo: Najib lies again. You don't buy clothes for charity using your own bank account. If the PM wishes to donate to charity or buy something to be given out for charity, he uses government funds and not funds from his bank account.

And where on Earth does the PM get so much money to donate in the first place?

If the intention is to distribute clothes to the poor, they would have gone to the cheapest shops in town, cut a deal to get the best price possible through bulk buying and spread the joy to as many as possible who need clothing items, curtains, etc.

FairMind: Najib is earning a monthly remuneration of RM22,826.65. Use your head whether he can afford to give US$14 million charity under his own name.

It will take him 51 years to save up his remuneration assuming he doesn't spend a single cent of it.
