Najib pays last respects to widow of ex-MCA president

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today paid his last respects to the late Catherine Lim Cheng Neo, 95, the widow of former MCA president Tan Siew Sin, at the Xiao En Memorial Centre, Cheras, in Kuala Lumpur.
Najib arrived at the centre at 8.20am and spent about 20 minutes there paying his last respects and meeting Lim's family members.
Among those present were Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, International Trade and Industry Minister II Ong Ka Chuan and MCA Wanita head Heng Seai Kie.
According to Lim's second daughter, Tan Siok Choo, her mother died from a heart attack at about 8.30pm on Tuesday at the National Heart Institute.
Touched by Najib's visit today, Tan said the prime minister conveyed his condolences and described her mother as a generous person.
"(Datuk Seri) Najib shared his experiences when he visited my parents in London, and he was touched that my mother welcomed him and treated him like a member of the family," she told reporters.

Tan said her mother's remains would be brought to Malacca at 11am to allow relatives and friends to pay their last respects before the final Christian burial.
She is expected to be buried at 2.30pm next to her late husband.
"My father was a Buddhist and mother was Christian, but they agreed that they would be buried according to their religions," she said.
Siew Sin was finance minister for 15 years from 1959 to 1974 and MCA president from 1961 until 1974 before resigning from the government and party because of health problems.
He died in 1988 at the age of 71.
