'CARI MAKAN' SHOCKER: PAC CHIEF CAUGHT SELLING MALAY RESERVE LAND TO CHINESE FOR HUGE PROFIT

PUTRAJAYA ― Opposition politician Lee Chean Chung has raised questions over a piece of land bought by Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Datuk Hasan Arifin and wants graftbusters to investigate it for corruption.
The information chief of PKR’s Youth wing filed a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today, casting doubt over a 13,000sqm piece of Malay reserve land in Medan Tok Sira, Pahang that Hasan had allegedly bought for RM76,499 when the latter held office in the state government and later sold for five times the original price.
“This involves a plot of land in Medan Tok Sira in Kuantan whereby this land, a Malay reserve land, was approved by the Pahang exco to be sold to PASDEC Corporation Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of the Pahang state government, and then sold to Hasan Arifin.
“Lastly, the land was resold to a Chinese owner for a far more expensive price, which is five times the price Hasan had purchased the land for,” Lee told reporters outside the MACC headquarters here.
Lee alleged that the land was located in a prime area near the Teluk Chempedak beach in the Pahang state capital and that Hasan was subsequently paid RM397,683.02 for it.
He also claimed that several other Pahang state executive council members benefited from Hasan’s sale of the Malay reserve land which was later divided into 14 parcels and given freehold status.
He urged the PAC chairman to take a leave of absence to facilitate investigations.
“So I want to repeat here again, this is a serious matter and I insist that Hasan must go on leave pending investigation.
“Although I am a Chinese, but my friends and I feel that Malay land reserves must not be misused but rather managed with trust to help the Malays and the underprivileged,” Lee added.
