SHAFIE'S SABAH 'TSUNAMI' MAKES NAJIB LOOK A FOOL: UMNO STARTS TO WORRY ABOUT MASS RESIGNATIONS

Umno supreme council member Bung Moktar Radin hopes there will be no mass resignations in Pagoh or Kedah Umno, to protest the sacking of Pagoh MP Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir from the party.
Bung told this to the BN Backbenchers Council news portal after about 300 Semporna Umno members resigned yesterday, in protest against the suspension of Semporna MP Mohd Shafie Apdal from the party.
"I am somewhat aggrieved that such a thing can happen in Semporna," Bung is quoted as saying.
"We need to strengthen ourselves. Leaders come and go but the party struggle must continue.
"I believe Shafie did the best (but) it is the way of politics. Today we are friends, tomorrow we become foes," he said.
Among those who quit yesterday are Semporna Umno vice-chief and Sulabayan assemblyperson Jaujan Sambakong.
Jaujan claimed the division wing's chief also resigned after losing confidence in Umno leadership.
However, Bugaya assemblyperson Ramlee Marahaban claimed the Semporna divisions are still intact and that many who attended the event yesterday did not realise it was to declare they were quitting the party.
He said most were there for a breaking fast event.
Meanwhile, Semporna division Puteri chief Zakiah Kalipunya urged the Umno disciplinary committee to swiftly decide Shafie's fate so the division can move on.
The Puteri wing chose to remain in Umno, Zakiah said in a statement.
