Tambun Umno seeks Husni’s explanation on resignation

Tambun Umno division respects Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah’s decision to relinquish all his posts in the party and Barisan Nasional (BN), including as division chief and BN treasurer.
Tambun Umno deputy chief Aminuddin Md Hanafiah hence urged all quarters not to make any speculation on Ahmad Husni’s decision but to instead give him time to explain it.
“I need to meet up with (Ahmad Husni) first as so far, what (information) I’ve got is the same as what Shamsul Zairil (Ahmad Husni’s political secretary) has told.
“Whatever the decision, we respect it but at the same time, we hope that he will continue to be with us,” Aminuddin said after chairing a special meeting of the Tambun Umno division in Ipoh last night.
Yesterday, when announcing the cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak also disclosed that Ahmad Husni would be stepping down as second finance minister for personal reasons.
Ahmad Husni also announced that he would be quitting his posts as Umno treasurer, BN treasurer-general, Perak Umno deputy chief, Perak BN deputy chief, Tambun Umno division head and Tambun parliamentary constituency BN chairperson.
This was confirmed by Shamsul Zairil through a media statement.
Meanwhile, Perak Wanita Umno head Rusnah Kassim has described Ahmad Husni’s decision to quit his cabinet and all party posts as a big loss.
Rusnah, who is also state Women's Development, Community Welfare, Housing and Local Government Committee chairperson, said Ahmad Husni’s quit decision was shocking because as a leader, he was hardworking and tireless.
“I have actually learned a lot from the way he worked and so on. To me, personally, it’s a big loss.
“I was shocked also because I didn’t expect him to quit all posts,” she told reporters after handing out Aidilfitri contributions worth RM68,700 from the Perak government to the representatives of 22 orphanages in the state in Ipoh today.
Rusnah, however, believed that Ahmad Husni would not have relinquished his posts without making any preparations to ensure the echelon leaders could take over the responsibilities.
She said the last time she met Ahmad Husni was at a state Umno meeting a few months ago.
