Tian Chua: Why arrest Lim but not Jho Low?

PETALING JAYA: If the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) could arrest millionaire Jho Low at the same speed as Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, the country would be in good hands, said a PKR MP.
PKR Vice-President Tian Chua said the arrest of Lim showed double standards and said Lim’s arrest was politically motivated.
“Why hasn’t MACC arrested Jho Low yet who is alleged to have squandered millions of ringgit from the country?
“The timing of the arrest is questionable as it took place right after the present MACC chief (Abu Kassim Mohamed) announced he was stepping down in August.
Tian Chua said the Opposition had to consolidate and re-emerge as a stronger Opposition as Prime Minister Najib Razak was expected to show off “his claws to intimidate and finish off the Opposition”.
He said Najib’s change in attitude could be seen after winning the Sarawak state election in May and the twin by-elections in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar held this month.
“He is going to clean us out, if he can.
“Najib is becoming more of a dictator.”
Meanwhile, PKR Secretary-General Rafizi Ramli tweeted that the arrest of Lim was “unreasonable”.
“They can just ask him (Lim) to appear in court to face the charge without wasting the government’s resources by sending a big team, like what happened in Komtar just now.”
Rafizi, who is on trial for leaking government secret documents, was also arrested by a group of policemen in front of Parliament in March.
