ROYAL SHOCK FOR NAJIB: JOHOR PRINCE URGES OTHER ROYALS TO SPEAK UP ON COUNTRY, TO MEET NAJIB ON AUG 12
PETALING JAYA - Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has urged the country’s royal families to speak up and play a role in advising leaders and ensuring the betterment of the country.
Noting that he was the only outspoken one among them, Tunku Ismail said neither he nor any of the royalties was against any system or anyone in the country, but that they needed to fulfil their responsibilities.
“I hope the royal family will understand and play a role in terms of this. If you realise, I’m the only speaking up, the rest are all keeping quiet. At the end of the day, we are here to share and voice our opinions for the betterment of our country.
“Whatever we voice out today is nothing personal going against someone or some people. Because if I’m at the place I am, and I can’t even remind leaders serving the people, what’s the point of me being here.
“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Voicing out for the people, reminding leaders to serve them with integrity, dedication and devotion, if its a crime, they have to put me in jail, because I’m going to continue doing it,” he said during the Obviously Harith Iskandar talk show on Saturday night, hosted by the national comedian.
Tunku Ismail also stressed that leaders should never involve education, religion and business with politics when making decisions or it would lead to corruption.
“You have to make decisions for what’s best for the country. Not ‘Oh, I cannot make this decision because then I won’t get any votes’. And when you involve politics in this three things, then you will give birth to corruption. That’s what my father taught me,” he said.
He said although he had no issues with the use of Bahasa Malaysia, it was also important that people here learn the English language, due to its importance in the international arena.
“I know we want to give priority to our roots, our culture and everything, which is not a bad thing. (But) there’s nothing wrong in learning English, it’s an international language. It allows you to communicate with all the people around the world,” he said
Among other things being mentioned and discussed during the show include:
» Tunku Ismail announcing that he would meet the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak for tea on Aug 12, 2016;
» Confirming that he would not be taking over as the president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), due to his commitment to his football club Johor Darul Ta’zim.
» Meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin this week to discuss, go over and finalise details of a formula to rejuvenate Malaysian football;
» Sharing about his time in the military, as well as playing professional polo overseas and going out with his wife on a date without the police envoy and securities.
