The Terengganu Umno crisis deepened last night as former menteri besar Ahmad Said threatened to quit the party and join forces with PAS, according to reports.
The Star Online last night reported Ahmad, the Kijal assemblyperson giving Terengganu Mentri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman an ultimatum to resign.
He was reported telling the English daily this was his response to the menteri besar blaming his predecessor for the state's present turmoil.
Ahmad Said said Ahmad Razif, the , should know better, reported The Star.
"I have a lot of secrets. Don't make me open my mouth.
“He (Ahmad Razif) speaks about my performance and that because of me, the state government lost most of the seats during the election and only had a narrow win.
“He needs to know that during a time when there was a coup to oust me, BN was almost certain of going down by losing to PAS, he knows who saved and gave victory," Ahmad Said told The Star, according to the report.
He added he could have sacked Ahmad Razif when he was in power, over alleged sabotage, but had relented.
Ahmad Said therefore said if Ahmad Razif does not step down now, he may leave Umno and join forces with PAS to form the next government.
The Terengganu Umno government was embroiled in crisis in 2014 when Ahmad Said and two other assemblypersons resigned, reducing the ruling party's 17 seat majority against then Pakatan Rakyat's 15.
The possible collapse of the state government was finally averted and Seberang Takir assemblyperson Ahmad Razif took over as the menteri besar. - Mkini
