Siblings run over by lorry trailer while returning from school

The siblings, who were riding a motorcycle, tried to overtake the lorry trailer but failed.

RAUB: Two siblings were killed when the motorcycle they were on was involved in a collision with a lorry trailer at Km339, Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kota Bharu in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Al Jabar, Dong, near here, yesterday afternoon.

The victims, Mohamed Zulfikri Mohd Zul, 16, and his sister Nurul Syakirah, 14, who were students of SMK Dong, died at the scene from severe injuries to the head and body.

Pahang Investigations and Traffic Enforcement Department Chief Supt Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said in the 2.30pm incident, the siblings, who were riding from the direction of Dong heading to Kota Bharu, tried to overtake the lorry trailer (from the same direction) on the left.

“While overtaking the lorry trailer, the motorcycle suddenly went out of control causing the victims to fall and they were run over by the rear tyres of the lorry trailer.”

He said the remains of the victims were sent to the Raub Hospital for a post-mortem.
