Noh Omar: Mahathir-Anwar meet a hilarious Bollywood drama

Umno Selangor information chief Noh Omar has written off the cordial meeting between Mahathir Mohamad and his rival Anwar Ibrahim as "Hindustani play acting".
"I laugh when seeing their acting. We'd like to ask Mahathir, which are his true statements concerning Anwar?
"The time when he was prime minister and sacked Anwar, or now?
"Which is correct? Last time he said Anwar was wrong, to the point (the latter) was sacked.
"Now he wants to be partners,"" Noh said to reporters after officiating at a housing forum in Petaling Jaya today.
"This is but a Hindustani drama," he said, laughing.
Mahathir, who has remained critical of Anwar's past during the Sodomy I saga, surprised the nation on Monday when he met with the PKR de facto leader, in a courtoom, in a warm encounter.
However, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli has been cautious about the implications of the meeting, calling for the people to focus on issues, not the political elite.
'Umno not in panic'
Commenting on PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's claim that the historic meeting of arch-rivals has caused Umno to panic, Noh said it was the contrary.
"The opposition are the ones who are jittery after all their attempts to take down the prime minister have failed.
"The people have been proven to reject the Citizens' Declaration, shown in BN's big wins at the Sarawak election and Sungai Besar, Kuala Kangsar by-elections.
"The prime minister has also responded on the US Department of Justice (DOJ) issue; he will take the matter to the courts and we will wait," said Noh.
"(Mahathir) is not satisfied, so he forms a new party. And now he wants to patch up with Anwar.
"So it's the opposition that is jittery, we are not. The prime minister is still continuing his work to take care of the rakyat," he added.
In September 1998, Mahathir sacked his then deputy Anwar over sodomy allegations.

Mahfuz: Umno's days numbered
Meanwhile, PAS Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar had his own laugh, taking a swipe at Umno's reaction to the unprecedented meeting, noting how recent political events have caused the ruling party to behave "hysterically" of late.
"The reaction of Umno leaders to the meeting of the two leading figures is they cannot say anything except to hurl accusations at Mahathir as being desperate (terdesak).
However, quipped the PAS leader in a play of words, it is Umno and the infamous Malaysian Official 1 cited by the DOJ who is now "choking" (tersedak).
"This shows the life span of Umno hasn't long to go," he said.
