No more 'Trojan horses' please, Umno told after Ezam's exit

Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii has urged the Umno-led government not to take in any more "Trojan horses".
This was after Mohammad Ezam Mohd Noor quit Umno on grounds that the party was no longer serious about combating corruption.
"After being given a chance to become a senator and given a position to improve the system... he used it to stab the government.
"Next time, the government should not take in people with a track record of being a traitor.
"It's dangerous and they will be Trojan horses," he said in a statement.
Ezam was the Petaling Jaya Selatan Umno Youth chief in 1993 and became then Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary.
He quit Umno in 1998 after Anwar was sacked, and was among the key leaders that led the subsequent mass Reformasi demonstrations, which saw him being detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
He was also jailed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) for possessing confidential documents related an alleged corruption scandal of a minister.
He was the PKR Youth chief from 1999 to 2005 before falling out with the party.
Ezam: Najib's gone backwards
Ezam said he rejoined Umno in 2008 due to then prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's commitment to reform. He was made senator from 2010 to 2014.
When Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak took over, he appointed Ezam as communications director at the Finance Ministry in 2014.

However, Ezam complained Najib's government had gone backwards in its purported transformation agenda.
He took issue that the government had "abused" the OSA to classify as secret the auditor-general's report on 1MDB.
Ezam said he relinquished his position at the Finance Ministry ahead of his contract six months ago and announced his resignation from Umno in a Facebook post yesterday.-Mkini
