Umno MP wants Transport Minister to be from Umno

UMNO AGM The Transport Ministry should be held by someone from Umno, said a lawmaker from the party.
"Allow me to suggest that the Transport Ministry be given to someone from Umno.
"Many of our bosses up (on the stage) are qualified.
"If none of our bosses (are appointed), many of my comrades down here are also qualified," Jasin MP Ahmad Hamzah said when opening the economic debate at the Umno general assembly today.

The Transport Ministry is currently held by MCA president Liow Tiong Lai.
Previously, Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein held the portfolio, after MCA refused to accept any cabinet position following the bad results it achieved in the 2013 general election.
During that time, Ahmad said, Hishammuddin had given the Malacca government the idea to create a deepsea port, which China is now investing in.
Besides the Transport Ministry, the only other ministries headed by non-bumiputeras are the Health Ministry held by MIC president Dr S Subramaniam and the Commodities and Plantations Ministry held by Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong- Mkini
