Tea Yasea, 68, said his house was affected by the floods last Wednesday.
“I feel scared, worried. When it rains heavily, we panic, scared there might be flooding. We have to be always careful.
“My wife can’t sleep well and will always wake up in the middle of the night whenever it rains,” he said when FMT visited his house today.
Tea estimated his losses at RM2,000.
That is not a small amount for Tea, who is a rubber tapper. He also had to spend two days cleaning up his house that was littered with trash brought in by the floods.
He is grateful his five children are helping him in the cleanup work and also helped move some of his household items to a safe place before the flooding last week.
Another flood victim, Tan Bak Lam, 74, said the floods had hit the family’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
“I’m scared as there’s no one who can help me move all the things in my house. I have a small family and my husband is dead.”
The mother of five told FMT she had suffered big losses when her furniture were damaged by the floods that had hit her home recently. -FMT
