RTD likely to suspend PSV licences of serious traffic offenders

The Road Transport Department (RTD) will likely suspend the public service vehicle (PSV) licences of motorists who commit three major offences during its enforcement operations in conjunction with this year's Chinese New Year celebration.
RTD director-general Nadzri Siron said the three offences were driving on the emergency lane, over-speeding and middle lane hogging.

Nadzri said RTD personnel would go undercover as passengers on 308 express bus coaches to detect any violation of traffic regulations.
"If the drivers are found to have committed the offences, we will detain them at the rest and recreation areas and issue summonses, instead of doing that at the end of the journey," he added.
Nadzri was speaking to reporters after conducting aerial surveillance during the 'Enforcement Op' with Plus, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
The operations, running from Jan 21 to Feb 5 involve 1,148 RTD personnel.
